The paintings in the Earth Matters collection were produced for an exhibition of the same name – a collaboration with landscape artist, Helen Douglass exhibited at Blue Knob Hall Gallery, in Northern Rivers, NSW in 2021.
The series Poem of Rust and Water, speaks of the widespread drought that preceded the catastrophic bushfires in the Black Summer of 2019/20. I collaged hand made papers and used motifs such as circles for pivot irrigation systems and network structures to depict the interconnections of the natural world in this small abstract-expressionistic artwork.
The second series that was part of Earth Matters, Poem of Hide and Stringybark acknowledges the tree clearing and habitat loss which continues at an unacceptable pace in this country.
These mini artworks are perfect for that cosy corner or sunlit nook that needs the lift of a small original artwork.
