Join us as we explore the basics of enamelling using a variety of techniques. These including dry sifting, counter-enamelling, stencilling and other decorative methods to create a colourful enamel pendant or earrings. During the class you will be introduced to vitreous kiln-fired enamelling.
Suitable for beginners. Small class size for a better learning experience.

the fundamentals of enameling for jewellery - the combination of glass on metal to form durable, wearable and colourful pieces you will love. During the workshop, you will be introduced to the use of kilns and torch-firing techniques. You will also gain an understanding of enamel’s properties, as well as the equipment and tools used to work with this jewellery making material.
In class, you will design and make your own jewellery pieces, beginning with a simple pendant. You can expect to complete two to four pieces of finished jewellery.
At the end of this course, you will go home with a foundation of knowledge and skills of basic enameling for jewellery as well as your ready-to-wear enamel jewellery pieces.
What to bring
- Pencil, paper and scissors
- $40 to tutor on the morning of class for materials
- Wear closed-in shoes, no loose clothing and tie up long hair
- Bring your own lunch
- Students need to be healthy and fit as a degree of hand strength and steadiness are required in jewellery making.
