The paintings in the Earth Matters collection were produced for an exhibition of the same name – a collaboration with landscape artist, Helen Douglass exhibited at Blue Knob Hall Gallery, in Northern Rivers, NSW in 2021.
The series Poem of Hide and Stringybark acknowledges the tree clearing and habitat loss which continues at an unacceptable pace in this country. I collaged hand made papers and snake skin I collected from the farm and used motifs such as leaves and text representing the cattle brands used on grazing properties in this small abstract-expressionistic artwork.
The second series that was part of Earth Matters, Poem of Rust and Water, speaks of the widespread drought that preceded the catastrophic bushfires in 2019/20.
These mini artworks are perfect for that cosy corner or sunlit nook that needs the lift of a small original artwork.
