This introductory course covers the key skills you need for precious metal work; perfect for anyone who would like to explore their interest in jewellery design and making. You will make one ring or two final silver pieces to wear home at the end of workshop.

Learn...
the fundamentals of jewellery making in silver such as soldering, forming and polishing to achieve various textures and finishes. During the workshop, you will also gain an understanding of silver’s properties, as well as the equipment and tools used to work with this precious metal.
In class, you will design and make your own jewellery pieces, beginning with a simple ring with potential for hammered or stamped finish. You can expect to complete two pieces of finished jewellery.
At the end of this course, you will go home with a foundation of knowledge and skills of basic jewellery making as well as your ready-to-wear silver jewellery piece.
What to bring
- Pencil, paper and scissors
- $55 to tutor on the morning of class for materials
- Wear closed-in shoes, no loose clothing and tie up long hair
- Bring your own lunch
- Students need to be healthy and fit as a degree of hand strength and steadiness are required in silversmithing.
